Description

Every BHAKTA bottle carries a year, not an age statement. This one was distilled from a single harvest in 1995, laid down in oak, and left to the slow work of Gascon cellars until it was ready, years later, to be bottled exactly as it came out of the cask.

Tasting Notes
Aspect Rich amber color.
Nose Candied orange, coffee, caramel, fruit cake right out of the oven, and varnish.
Palate Big and bold, spicy with pepper and powerful attack. Creamy texture with nuttiness and macerated prunes, dried figs, and big oak flavors. Tannins that are well-integrated bring some dryness on the palate. Waxed floors, furniture polish, orange peel, and macerated raisins. Strong and long finish with notes of dried fruit and more fresh baked notes.

The Vintage Story

1995

The year in the bottle

Michael Jordan returns to the NBA, Yahoo! incorporates, The History Channel debuts, and the Dow Jones closes above 4,000 for the first time. Mississippi finally ratifies the Thirteenth Amendment—becoming the last state to approve the abolition of slavery. Forrest Gump wins six Oscars. The Oklahoma City Bombing takes 168 lives, the Korean War Veterans Memorial is dedicated in D.C., and O.J. is found not guilty of double homicide. Mickey Mantle, Orville Redenbacher, Bob Ross, and Selena die. “You Are Not Alone” by Michael Jackson, “Waterfalls” by TLC, and “Kiss from a Rose” by Seal are the year’s top hits. Toy Story, Goldeneye, Pocahontas, and Apollo 13 dominate the box office.

Media Reviews

“In this vintage paradigm, every release is special, limited in quantity — there’s only so much of any given spirit made in any given year.”
“You don’t have to love brandy to love this. . . Terrific sipping and thus an epic preview of things to come from the nascent producer.”
“The World’s Best Bourbon.”
