Description

Every BHAKTA bottle carries a year, not an age statement. This one was distilled from a single harvest in 2005, laid down in oak, and left to the slow work of Gascon cellars until it was ready, years later, to be bottled exactly as it came out of the cask.

Tasting Notes
Aspect Golden orange.
Nose Lovely expressive nose with hints of orange, hazelnuts and chocolate. Freshly baked croissants and vanilla creme patisserie.
Palate Big and bold on the attack with fresh notes of candied orange. Peppery spice and complex with mellow tannins. Quite a long and dry finish with notes of rancio and oak.

The Vintage Story

2005

The year in the bottle

YouTube launches. North Korea announces that it possesses nuclear weapons, claiming them to be a deterrent against American aggression. Back home, Hurricane Katrina makes landfall, John Roberts is sworn in as the Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court, and the housing bubble begins to burst—setting the stage for the 2008 financial crisis and economic troubles to come. The Office debuts. Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith is released in theaters. President Bush nominates Samuel Alito for the Supreme Court. Hunter S. Thompson, Luther Vandross, William Rehnquist, Arthur Miller, Richard Pryor, and Saul Bellow die. “We Belong Together” by Mariah Carey, “Hollaback Girl” by Gwen Stefani, and “Gold Digger” by Kanye West are the year’s top songs.

Media Reviews

“In this vintage paradigm, every release is special, limited in quantity — there’s only so much of any given spirit made in any given year.”
“You don’t have to love brandy to love this. . . Terrific sipping and thus an epic preview of things to come from the nascent producer.”
“The World’s Best Bourbon.”
