Description

Every BHAKTA bottle carries a year, not an age statement. This one was distilled from a single harvest in 2003, laid down in oak, and left to the slow work of Gascon cellars until it was ready, years later, to be bottled exactly as it came out of the cask.

Tasting Notes
Aspect Golden straw color.
Nose Clean and fresh nose with lots of fresh fruits like Conference pear and plum, also with some overripe pear. Very seductive nose of stewed fruits with a touch of marzipan.
Palate Bold and fresh attack with more fresh fruits and power. Despite its 20 years, this Armagnac is full of vigor and freshness. Tropical fruits such as mango and stewed peaches mingle with green almonds and some peppery spice.

The Vintage Story

2003

The year in the bottle

The Iraq war begins with American forces quickly taking Baghdad. The Human Genome Project is completed with an accuracy of 99.9%. Space Shuttle Columbia disintegrates on reentry, killing all astronauts onboard. Earth receives its final signal from NASA’s Pioneer 10 spacecraft; the Concorde makes its final flight. Saddam Hussein is captured by the U.S. Army. “In da Club” by 50 Cent and “Ignition” by R. Kelly are the year’s top singles. Finding Nemo, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, and The Matrix Reloaded are the year’s highest-grossing films.

Media Reviews

“In this vintage paradigm, every release is special, limited in quantity — there’s only so much of any given spirit made in any given year.”
“You don’t have to love brandy to love this. . . Terrific sipping and thus an epic preview of things to come from the nascent producer.”
“The World’s Best Bourbon.”
