Description

Every BHAKTA bottle carries a year, not an age statement. This one was distilled from a single harvest in 1998, laid down in oak, and left to the slow work of Gascon cellars until it was ready, years later, to be bottled exactly as it came out of the cask.

Tasting Notes
Aspect Golden orange.
Nose Fresh and dried fruit with quite dominant citrus notes that bring a lot of freshness. Some vanilla and brown sugar notes. Very clean, fresh and fruity.
Palate Slightly sweet opening and blast of power with clean, straight lines. Old libraries, polished wood furniture, beeswax, and slight dry bitterness. Sweetness continues with each sip, followed by this great muscle power straight behind. Dried fruit with rich nuttiness and oak. Complex palette of aromas with long, rancio notes, and soft spices.

The Vintage Story

1998

The year in the bottle

Microsoft becomes the biggest company in the world—but the founding of Google foreshadows a future shift in power. Congress passes the Digital Millennium Copyright Act in a bid to prevent online file sharing piracy. The Monica Lewinsky affair engulfs the Clinton White House; President Clinton is impeached by the House, but acquitted by the Senate. Exxon buys Mobil, creating oil giant Exxon-Mobil. Israel celebrates its 50th anniversary. In a highlight year for cinema, Saving Private Ryan, The Big Lebowski, There’s Something About Mary, and The Thin Red Line hit theaters.

Media Reviews

“In this vintage paradigm, every release is special, limited in quantity — there’s only so much of any given spirit made in any given year.”
“You don’t have to love brandy to love this. . . Terrific sipping and thus an epic preview of things to come from the nascent producer.”
“The World’s Best Bourbon.”
