Description

Every BHAKTA bottle carries a year, not an age statement. This one was distilled from a single harvest in 1997, laid down in oak, and left to the slow work of Gascon cellars until it was ready, years later, to be bottled exactly as it came out of the cask.

Tasting Notes
Aspect Rich mahogany color.
Nose Varnish, dried fruits, and a touch of candied orange. Prunes and dates. Carpenters workshop. Antique furniture.
Palate Quite powerful with spicy notes of Sichuan pepper, ginger, and nutmeg. Dark macerated raisins with a touch of varnish and slight bitterness. Long, dry finish with notes of wax polish.

The Vintage Story

1997

The year in the bottle

Princess Diana is killed in a car crash, triggering mourning around the globe. In the UK, the first mammal is cloned—Dolly the Sheep. Madeleine Albright becomes the first female Secretary of State in American history. Steve Jobs returns to Apple, the first Harry Potter book is published in the US, and Gianni Versace is murdered. Titanic is the year’s biggest movie, and one of the highest grossing films of all time; its theme song performed by Celine Dion, “My Heart Will Go On,” tops the charts.

Media Reviews

“In this vintage paradigm, every release is special, limited in quantity — there’s only so much of any given spirit made in any given year.”
“You don’t have to love brandy to love this. . . Terrific sipping and thus an epic preview of things to come from the nascent producer.”
