Description

Every BHAKTA bottle carries a year, not an age statement. This one was distilled from a single harvest in 1991, laid down in oak, and left to the slow work of Gascon cellars until it was ready, years later, to be bottled exactly as it came out of the cask.

Tasting Notes
Aspect Rich, golden amber.
Nose Racy, with orange zest, freshly squeezed orange juice, notes of cocoa and chocolate-covered orange peel. Some creamy butterscotch notes with walnut too.
Palate Soft and silky in the mouth with great complexity and a touch of sweetness. Very gentle approach with more dry walnut notes, although the ensemble is very unctuous in the mouth and leaves you wanting more. Lovely long finish with extremely soft tannins and more orange notes and roasted coffee beans.

The Vintage Story

1991

The year in the bottle

Iraq invades Kuwait, triggering the Gulf War—and the US launches Operation Desert Storm with a salvo of airstrikes on Saddam Hussein’s forces. At the Academy Awards, Dances with Wolves wins seven Oscars, including Best Picture. Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog video game debuts, selling more than a million copies before Christmas; so too does Nirvana’s album Nevermind, which sells an astounding 11 million copies. Thurgood Marshall retires from the Supreme Court to be replaced by Clarence Thomas. Queen frontman Freddie Mercury dies of AIDS. Creative icons Dr. Seuss, Frank Capra, and Miles Davis are also laid to rest.

Media Reviews

“In this vintage paradigm, every release is special, limited in quantity — there’s only so much of any given spirit made in any given year.”
“You don’t have to love brandy to love this. . . Terrific sipping and thus an epic preview of things to come from the nascent producer.”
“The World’s Best Bourbon.”
