Description

Every BHAKTA bottle carries a year, not an age statement. This one was distilled from a single harvest in 1990, laid down in oak, and left to the slow work of Gascon cellars until it was ready, years later, to be bottled exactly as it came out of the cask.

Tasting Notes
Aspect Pale rich golden straw color.
Nose Nutmeg and cigar box as this subtle Armagnac opens. Fresh fruits and summer garden flowers. Citrus, like preserved orange, and exotic fruits, like mango, appear. Pine and resinous notes. Pureed sun-ripened apricots (compote) and cream. Very enticing. Notes of buttery brioche and fresh peaches.
Palate Powerful attack with lots of spice, citrus, and exotic fruits. Full mouthfeel with a rich oiliness that coats the tongue. Notes of dried fruit come through with persistent spice and a dryness follows. Oak is very discreet, subtle and well-balanced. Retains its punch throughout the tasting with a long spicy and dry finish.

The Vintage Story

1990

The year in the bottle

Demolition of the Berlin Wall officially begins. . . and the first McDonald’s opens in Moscow. NASA deploys the Hubble Space Telescope. Construction of the Channel Tunnel—or “chunnel”—between France and Great Britain establishes the first ground connection between the UK and Europe since the last Ice Age. Microsoft releases Windows 3.0; Pioneer sells the first in-car satellite navigation system. In music, “Ice Ice Baby,” “Can’t Touch This,” “Vogue,” and “Nothing Compares 2 U” vie for the top of the charts.

Media Reviews

“In this vintage paradigm, every release is special, limited in quantity — there’s only so much of any given spirit made in any given year.”
“You don’t have to love brandy to love this. . . Terrific sipping and thus an epic preview of things to come from the nascent producer.”
“The World’s Best Bourbon.”
