Description

Every BHAKTA bottle carries a year, not an age statement. This one was distilled from a single harvest in 1987, laid down in oak, and left to the slow work of Gascon cellars until it was ready, years later, to be bottled exactly as it came out of the cask.

Tasting Notes
Aspect Deep amber orange.
Nose Quite fresh...Orange flower water and blossom. Cherries in brandy, varnish, pear crumble, caramel, and crème brulée, old oak, and candied orange.
Palate Bold, spicy, and big. Well rounded and balanced with lots of dried fruit like dates and figs, baked apples. Tongue-tingling pepper spice and discreet mellow tannins that are present yet not overpowering. Very long, warming finish with lovely rancio. Would complement a cigar.

The Vintage Story

1987

The year in the bottle

Andy Warhol dies in Manhattan. The Simpsons premieres as a series of shorts on The Tracey Ullman Show. Thirty-eight years of martial law in Taiwan come to an end. Construction of the Channel Tunnel begins in Armagnac’s native France, allowing for speedier brandy export to England. The Bangles’ song “Walk Like an Egyptian” tops the charts, while Beverly Hills Cop II tops the box office. Full House premieres on television. The stock market crashes in the single biggest one-day drop since 1929.

Media Reviews

“In this vintage paradigm, every release is special, limited in quantity — there’s only so much of any given spirit made in any given year.”
“You don’t have to love brandy to love this. . . Terrific sipping and thus an epic preview of things to come from the nascent producer.”
“The World’s Best Bourbon.”
