Description

Every BHAKTA bottle carries a year, not an age statement. This one was distilled from a single harvest in 1986, laid down in oak, and left to the slow work of Gascon cellars until it was ready, years later, to be bottled exactly as it came out of the cask.

Tasting Notes
Aspect Golden orange.
Nose Candied orange and nougat. Baked figs and bay leaves. Slightly smoky and toasted bread notes. Cinnamon toast and gingerbread. Very attractive aromas that make you come back for more. Very complex and keeps giving. Need to give it time to open.
Palate Warming and very expressive on first taste. Follows on beautifully from nose and does not disappoint. Spices are plentiful with pepper that dances on the tongue and dry tannins are very present. Bitterness on the finish that is long lasting.

The Vintage Story

1986

The year in the bottle

Chernobyl melts down in the biggest nuclear disaster in history. The Soviet Union launches its Mir space station. Meanwhile, the Space Shuttle Challenger explodes on launch, killing all astronauts on board. Top Gun dominates the box office. Coverage of the Iran-Contra scandal dominates TV. Madonna’s “Papa Don’t Preach” is the biggest song of the year. Email list management system LISTSERV is invented, beginning early the age of unnecessary emails to too many recipients. NASA’s Voyager 2 space probe documents its first encounter with Uranus.

Media Reviews

“In this vintage paradigm, every release is special, limited in quantity — there’s only so much of any given spirit made in any given year.”
“You don’t have to love brandy to love this. . . Terrific sipping and thus an epic preview of things to come from the nascent producer.”
“The World’s Best Bourbon.”
