Description

Every BHAKTA bottle carries a year, not an age statement. This one was distilled from a single harvest in 1982, laid down in oak, and left to the slow work of Gascon cellars until it was ready, years later, to be bottled exactly as it came out of the cask.

Tasting Notes
Aspect Deep chestnut brown.
Nose A discreet nose that opens slowly to notes of cigar boxes and spices, marron glacés (candied chestnuts), and chestnut purée with some vanilla. Old books and chocolate-covered orange peel. Exotic tea chests, spices, and teak wood. With time to breathe, vanilla fudge notes and toasted brioche with butter reveal themselves.
Palate An explosive attack knocks your socks off with a “wow” factor. Though the palate diverges substantially from the nose, the chestnuts linger. Spicy and powerful, like a feral beast unleashed. The second sip is still packed with firepower, but a little tamer. Orange, cinnamon, rich toffee, and nutty almonds notes gain full expression, followed by Sichuan pepper and cigar box. Creamy, very complex finish with persistent power and a little dry. Would complement a robust cigar.

Media Reviews

“In this vintage paradigm, every release is special, limited in quantity — there’s only so much of any given spirit made in any given year.”
“You don’t have to love brandy to love this. . . Terrific sipping and thus an epic preview of things to come from the nascent producer.”
“The World’s Best Bourbon.”
