Description

Every BHAKTA bottle carries a year, not an age statement. This one was distilled from a single harvest in 1976, laid down in oak, and left to the slow work of Gascon cellars until it was ready, years later, to be bottled exactly as it came out of the cask.

Tasting Notes
Aspect Deep amber orange.
Nose Zesty and lively nose with citrus, orange, exotic fruit, and rancio.
Palate Very soft and supple on the attack with lovely, full mouthfeel enriched by dried fruits, Christmas cake, a touch of ginger spice, and very soft oak notes that are well-integrated and mellow. Superb finish with cigar tobacco, prunes, and some fresh apple crumble notes.

The Vintage Story

1976

The year in the bottle

Georgia Governor Jimmy Carter defeats incumbent President Gerald Ford, winning the US presidency and becoming the first candidate from the Deep South to be elected since the Civil War. In California, Apple is founded by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. Meanwhile, another Steve takes the headlines—as Stevie Wonder releases his classic album Songs in the Key of Life. Surviving the American bombing of Cambodia during the Vietnam War, mass murderer Pol Pot declares a new constitution for the totalitarian nation. The US Treasury reintroduces the $2 bill. The first Star Wars film goes into production. At the infamous Judgment of Paris wine tasting, California tops France— shocking the world and changing the wine industry forever.

Media Reviews

“In this vintage paradigm, every release is special, limited in quantity — there’s only so much of any given spirit made in any given year.”
“You don’t have to love brandy to love this. . . Terrific sipping and thus an epic preview of things to come from the nascent producer.”
“The World’s Best Bourbon.”
