Description

Every BHAKTA bottle carries a year, not an age statement. This one was distilled from a single harvest in 1966, laid down in oak, and left to the slow work of Gascon cellars until it was ready, years later, to be bottled exactly as it came out of the cask.

Tasting Notes
Aspect Deep mahogany.
Nose Wonderful, rich molasses and toffee notes with vanilla and cream. Sweet notes of dessert with vanilla custard.
Palate Quite dry on the attack and powerful with more sweetness and great body. Nutty profile with notes of leather and spice. Baco grape expresses itself perfectly here as there is an earthiness and structure to this old Bas Armagnac. Long lasting in the mouth with big flavors of dried fruit and dry, yet mellow tannins.

The Vintage Story

1966

The year in the bottle

John Lennon causes a scandal by saying in an interview that The Beatles are “more popular than Jesus.” The Beach Boys release Pet Sounds, their answer to The Beatles’ Rubber Soul. In New York City, groundbreaking takes place for the construction of the World Trade Center. The first Best Buy opens. At the Oscars, The Sound of Music wins Best Picture. Walt Disney dies. Kwanzaa is celebrated for the first time. Star Trek debuts on television; meanwhile, NASA launches the first US spacecraft to orbit the moon, and the Soviet Union lands their own on its surface. Actor Ronald Reagan enters politics as Governor of California. The Chicago Bulls join the NBA.

Media Reviews

“In this vintage paradigm, every release is special, limited in quantity — there’s only so much of any given spirit made in any given year.”
“You don’t have to love brandy to love this. . . Terrific sipping and thus an epic preview of things to come from the nascent producer.”
“The World’s Best Bourbon.”
