Description

Every BHAKTA bottle carries a year, not an age statement. This one was distilled from a single harvest in 1963, laid down in oak, and left to the slow work of Gascon cellars until it was ready, years later, to be bottled exactly as it came out of the cask.

Tasting Notes
Aspect Rich amber orange.
Nose Deep, rich nose with intense dried fruits and mellow wood notes. Polished wooden parquet floors, old varnish. A continuation of ripe and dried fruits and nuts: apricots, prunes, figs, walnuts, almonds. Notes of toasted brioche with chunky, thick-cut orange marmalade.
Palate Very spicy, big bold attack with pepperiness. Continuation of dried fruits and nuts. A touch of bitterness with the tannins on the finish. Long finish.

The Vintage Story

1963

The year in the bottle

President Kennedy is assassinated in Dallas by Lee Harvey Oswald. As Civil Rights take center stage, Martin Luther King Jr. issues his “Letter from Birmingham Jail”—and months later delivers his “I Have a Dream” speech from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial to the largest protest in American history up to that point. The United States Postal Service introduces ZIP codes. Lamborghini is founded; Porsche releases its classic 911. Instant coffee, hang-gliders, the computer mouse, the lava lamp, and the push-button telephone are invented.

Media Reviews

“In this vintage paradigm, every release is special, limited in quantity — there’s only so much of any given spirit made in any given year.”
“You don’t have to love brandy to love this. . . Terrific sipping and thus an epic preview of things to come from the nascent producer.”
“The World’s Best Bourbon.”
