Description

Every BHAKTA bottle carries a year, not an age statement. This one was distilled from a single harvest in 1962, laid down in oak, and left to the slow work of Gascon cellars until it was ready, years later, to be bottled exactly as it came out of the cask.

Tasting Notes

Aspect Deep amber.

Nose Quite a savory nose to begin with—like roasted meat. Then arrives the dried plummy fruits, with complementary expressions of caramel and cigar box. More roasted meat and tobacco leaf. Additional sensory waves manifest on the nose, including fruits such as dried apricots, and further nutty, earthy expressions including granola with oats and nuts, oak wood pile, and a hint of must, but in a good way—evoking attics and old trunks. A bright note of orange appears with zesty liveliness. Hints of varnish, walnuts, and honey. Very complex.

Palate Spicy and full mouthfeel that, despite the lively spice, is warming with no aggressiveness. Incredibly complex and well-balanced, with orange peel, dried fruits, sultanas, honey, and dark chocolate. Tannins are delightful and well-integrated with a touch of dryness. Lovely, long, perfumed finish.
